Description
"Keats: Poems Published in 1820" is a collection of lyrical poetry by John Keats, composed in the early 19th century. The volume includes some of Keats’s most renowned works, such as "Ode to a Nightingale" and "Lamia," which examine themes of beauty, love, and the intricacies of human emotion. The poems demonstrate Keats's detailed observations of nature and his engagement with philosophical questions, reflecting his poetic development during this period. The collection also provides contextual insights into Keats’s life, including his health struggles, his romantic correspondence with Fanny Brawne, and the emotional and existential tensions influencing his writing. The anthology begins with an introduction that addresses his early influences and personal circumstances, framing his poetic themes within his life experiences.
The volume was published in 1820, a significant year in Keats’s poetic career, and offers a comprehensive view of his creative output at that time. It reflects the Romantic era's emphasis on emotion, nature, and individual perception, situating Keats among the prominent British poets of the period.

As a pupil of Dr. de Sélincourt I also owe him special gratitude for his inspiration and direction of my study of Keats, as well as for the constant help which I have received from him in the preparation of this edition.
